“I recognized that when Jesus performed his first miracle it was because his mother, Mary, charged him to transition and step into his purpose. She was there instructing him as a son, while reverencing Him as Lord. Mothers instruct their children, but then assume a respectful and dignified position when the Creator moves them into their divine purpose.”

Moms move accordingly.
There is no bond likened to that of the mother and child. As part of the effort to respond to the urgency of this moment in America’s history where families are forced to make hard decisions about their children’s education and health, there has to be a place for there to be transparent conversations and factual information. The MOMentum Project offers the safe place for mothers to talk, organize and act strategically in the interest of their children.
Pregnant women are expecting, while mothers are expected.
The MOMentum Project creates environments for mothers and mothering-spirits of school-age children to participate in wellness activities that build the support system needed to promote student achievement. This is the ideal place for all women who have an interest in the welfare of a child to come to discuss topics and share information about the educational process. The MOM-entum Project delves deeply into issues of gender and race equity in education by bringing gender-specific issues to the forefront of our conversations around conference, kitchen and coffee-house tables.
Facts on Single Mothers
MOMentum creates the supports for women to discuss the progress of their children. The specific needs and concerns of single mothers are addressed in safe spaces. When considering Black families with and without children who live below the national poverty line, the vast majority (74% or 1.4 million) are headed by single women and just 16% are headed by a married-couple family. Only 10% are headed by a single father. Source
Facts on Faith
Have you ever heard the phrase, “living on a mother’s prayers?” A core principle of the MOMentum Project is that women share their faith and empower each other with testimonies of resilience and restoration. Research documents the relationship between of HOPE and BELIEF in the achievement of young men. We make the connection through faith-based connections because It cited that 87% of Blacks (vs. 83% of all Americans) are affiliated with a religion. It also found that 79 % of Blacks (vs. 56% overall) say that religion is “very important in their life.” Source
“Momma! Momma! I’m through,” the dying man says, and I recognize his words. A call to your mother is a prayer to be seen. Floyd’s mother died two years ago, but he used her as a sacred invocation. To call out to his mother is to be known to his maker. The one who gave him to her…It’s my sacred charge. I am a black mother”
